A federal Law was passed last year called the Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental health Parity and Addiction Equity Act. It means that health insurance companies have to treat mental illness like a physical illness and provide the same amount of care. That includes the medications needed to maintain proper health. You need to find a theapist to prescribe the appropitae medications, That might be why your insurance company won’t pay for it because it’s not been perscribed for you by a mental health professional. Find a mental health professional and I’ll bet your insurance will have to cover it. You GYN isn’t a mental health professional they shouldn’t have prescribed any thing for you with out refering you to a psychiatrist or a psychologist. Find a mental health professional and I’ll bet you feel better. What your GYN can prescribe is something like Yaz to help with the PMS or PMDD symptoms. That’s a different thing.
I have major anxiety problems. My medication was to expensive and I had no insurance. I went to my local mental health office and begged them to listen. They signed me up on a program that pays for your medication if you can’t afford it or insurance won’t pay for it. I know how you feel. I hope this helps. Bless you.
How did you get the Zoloft? My doctor would never give it to me unless I got therapy along with the medication. Why would your insurance company pay for the pills and not the therapy, that doesn’t even make sense. I think I would try to fight with your insurance company about this. Pills alone can’t help you. Good Luck!
With counseling you my want to keep looking around and asking to see if there is anyone who does it for free for a issue you have gone through. Some of the herbal remedies I’m told like primrose oil work well for PMS (I’m a guy so only what I’ve read) and anxiety.
That’s a high dose of Zoloft, but if its working keep using it.’
Try taking a b complex vitamin the week befor your period, it helps tremendously with PMS . Vitamin b is water soluble so you just pee out the excess our body doesnt need.
